The new flex houses on the Groene Dijk in Assen are extremely popular. For the 96 available homes, spread over four gallery flats, around 700 candidates reported.
The first residents have since moved into the Asser Flex homes. “Every week a few are added. At the moment we are also busy with the intake interviews,” says Hanneke Nijman of housing corporation Actium. She expects the houses, all social rent, all occupied by October at the latest.
There are three different types of container houses in the flats. There are houses for one, two and four people, each equipped with a separate bathroom and a private kitchen. The houses for two and four people have one and two bedrooms respectively. In the smallest house the resident sleeps in the living area.
Actium received around 700 responses to the homes in the social rental area on the canal between the Pittelo and Kloosterveen neighborhoods. “We generally see a pressure on the housing market in Assen. This also indicates the number of responses,” says Nijman. “There are many people looking for a home.”
According to Actuur, the Flex homes are for four specific target groups: young people, starters, emergency seekers and status holders. The Assenaren are given priority over a flex home where possible. The gallery flats are in principle fifteen years. That can be extended by another five years.
The housing corporation is still working on the construction of 52 other flex homes in the new neighborhood. “We expect it to be installed at the end of October and that they will also be available in the fall.” There will be a new registration procedure for these 52 homes.
