Storm of violence in Purmerend rages on: suspect stabbed in prison

One of the suspects in the investigation into the series of shootings and explosions in the municipality of Purmerend was stabbed in the penitentiary institution (PI) in Alphen aan den Rijn. The victim is Malakai F., he was allegedly stabbed by a relative of a suspect from a rival gang.

When F. enters the air place in the PI three weeks ago, things go wrong. He is attacked from behind by the brother of another suspect in the same investigation, namely suspect Zakaria A..

Broken glass and fork

The brother attacks F. with a broken piece of glass and a broken fork, F. declares today during the first pro forma hearing in the Haarlem court. F. says he was stabbed in his arm, cheek and just below his eye. He says he no longer feels safe in the PI and has trouble sleeping.

The stabbed suspect is Malakai F., a 21-year-old man born in Vlissingen. He is suspected of a shooting in Middenbeemster on April 11 this year and a shooting incident at a house in Terneuzen on March 16 this year.

Feud between two camps

“We may be dealing with two camps here,” said his lawyer Manon Aalmoes today. “How is it possible that a suspect with the same last name is placed in a PI with my client”, she wonders. It is not yet clear how this could have happened. Almoes has announced that it intends to report negligence to the Ministry of Justice and Security.

The officer speaks today of ‘shocking violence between two rival gangs’. One group would come from Purmerend and the other from Middenbeemster. According to the public prosecutor, F. would be part of this violent war between the two gangs. The two incidents that F. is suspected of are part of a larger file of a total of eight incidents.

The lawsuit

In addition, Aalmoes emphasizes that the two possible camps are separated as much as possible and do not sit on the same day, to ensure the safety of its client. She also insists that any addresses in this case be hidden in order to prevent new attacks.
