Stormy rain fell over Berlin on Friday night – the Frey Bridge still has some of that in the morning. Because the water didn’t drain. Consequence: Traffic jam on the Heerstraße in Spandau!
The rain also washed a lot of sand out of the forest onto the Heerstraße, so that the gullies got clogged and the water couldn’t run off.
The water masses are currently being pumped out by two BSR employees with heavy equipment and emptied into a canal on the dry side of Heerstraße.
According to initial findings, this will take hours as it continues to rain.
Miles of traffic jams have formed on the bypasses – it currently takes around 30 to 45 minutes in the direction of the city center.
According to local residents, these floods always happen when there is heavy rain on the Frey Bridge.
The storm had moved to Berlin from the west late Thursday evening.
