Stolen shirts Frenkie and Virgil found again, ‘seller’ arrested

The stolen signed football shirts of, among others, Frenkie de Jong and Virgil van Dijk have been recovered. The shirts have been offered on Marktplaats in recent days. A so-called buyer made an offer on the shirts. At the time of the transaction at the Dolomietenlaan in Tilburg, the police came into the picture and arrested the man. The perpetrator is of Polish descent.

The shirts were stolen during a daytime project at a campsite in Zeeland. The burglary was discovered last Friday by Jeroen Otten, the supervisor of the daytime activities for people with disabilities and behavioral problems. The perpetrator took four special football shirts and two remote-controlled model boats.

The football shirts of Frenkie de Jong (Orange), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Eden Hazard (Real Madrid) and Luis Suárez (Barcelona) were offered on Marktplaats last weekend. A person, who prefers to remain anonymous, made an offer for the shirts.

The ‘purchase’ would take place on Wednesday evening at seven o’clock. Officers arrested the Polish man at one of the flats in Dolomietenlaan. He claimed that he had bought the shirts himself. The man is free again, but will soon have to report to the station.

The police are still investigating. It is not known whether the stolen model boats were also found in the flat.
