Stolen on Monday, found a few hours later: Yara (21) will soon be able to hit the road again with her Volkswagen Polo | Avelgem

A female customer who asked to use the restroom on the top floor of the store fled with the car. She stole the keys (and also Yara’s bank cards) from the locker of the student from Avelgem. He did not give up and promptly launched a widely distributed appeal via social media. Successfully.

“A man who had seen the call on social media called my mother to say that he had seen my car in a parking lot in Kerkstraat in Anzegem,” says Yara. “When mom called me with the good news, I spontaneously started crying out of joy. After all, I had to work hard to buy my car, the loss hit me hard. Needless to say, I am very grateful to the man who called us.”

In the meantime, Yara has her car back. “The battery was flat, the thief probably left the lights on when she left my car,” she says. “But other than that there is no damage. I am now trying to get everything administratively in order again, so that I can get back on the track quickly.” After all, her car was reported and you are not allowed to drive it again, even if you are the owner.
