Stoffel Vandoorne ninth in second ePrix Jakarta

Victory was for German rider Maximilian Günther (Maserati MSG Racing) who started on pole. Days after his fourth place in the first ePrix in the Indonesian capital, Vandoorne started the second race from fifth position on Sunday. The reigning world champion competed for the top five for a long time, but dropped a few places in the final phase.

Maximilian Günther was 2.8 seconds ahead of Briton Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) and 18.5 seconds ahead of New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) at the line. The 25-year-old German achieved his first season victory, the fourth of his career.

Eleventh position

In the standings of the world championship, German Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche), sixth on Sunday after his victory on Saturday, takes over the lead with 134 points from New Zealander Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing). He did not score on Sunday and is now third with 128 points, behind Dennis (133 points). Vandoorne is eleventh with 42 points.

The Formula E season continues on June 24 with a round in Portland, USA.
