Basel (AP) – The former Hertha player Valentin Stocker ended his active career at the end of the season in Switzerland.
During his 15-year professional career, the 33-year-old FC Basel midfielder only appeared for his home club from Basel and for the Berliners, with whom the former Swiss national soccer player was under contract from 2014 to 2018.
After the summer break, Stocker joins the ranks of officials and becomes assistant to the sporting director at FC Basel. “I’ve decided that after this season is a good moment to stop playing professional football. Also because FCB in the current situation offers me the great opportunity to support the club in the future in the sporting management and at the same time in this area,” Stocker is quoted as saying on the association’s website.
