Before the Prime Minister’s conference on the Corona situation, the TV chef Tim Mälzer called for further opening steps for the catering trade with other industry representatives.
“We are the business card of every region, we are a generator of gross national product, we make the cities livelier,” said Tim Mälzer on Tuesday in Berlin.
After two years of the pandemic, he is calling on politicians to be better able to plan for restaurateurs, also with regard to the coming autumn and winter. In order to be able to keep the many employees, the short-time allowance should also be increased. “This short-time work only includes a percentage payment of their basic wages, which can hardly be used to make a living in the cities these days,” said Mälzer.
Mirko Silz, managing director of the restaurant chain L’Osteria, which is represented in all federal states, also criticized the various Corona state regulations. “It also has to do with a huge administrative effort to comply with all the rules of the game, all regulations, all laws.” After two years of the pandemic, gastronomy is still on the brink. “Politics are now more than in demand, both in the short and medium term, to save this industry and secure it as a cultural asset,” warned Silz.
