The municipality of Dijk en Waard is not going to introduce a fireworks ban during the turn of the year. That is what the council decided today. Enforcement and the police will mainly focus on fireworks possession, trade and lighting them outside the permitted times. “This is to reduce the perceived nuisance.”
In the past two years, there was a national fireworks ban to relieve care. No general national fireworks ban is expected this year.
Because national restrictive measures have been introduced since 2020, the setting off of Category F3 fireworks, bang fireworks, bang strands, single-shot tubes and flares is already prohibited. “We have not yet been able to experience the effect of this due to the measures surrounding the corona virus,” says the college.
Lighting fireworks outside the permitted times is – as always – not allowed. No fireworks-free zones will therefore be set up anywhere during New Year’s Eve. With the efforts of enforcement and the police, the municipality hopes to catch more offenders in the act.
