Still many questions on the first training of KVO
29 players showed up at the first training, but they were taken care of by U21 trainers Kurt Bataille and Michiel Jonckheere. How to proceed depends on the American owners, who are still in control.
After the relegation, the Pacific Media Group provided the necessary money for a professional license, but KVO was for sale. There was plenty of interest from England, China and Saudi Arabia, but today KVO is still American. Without Paul Conway, and Gauthier Ganaye, but with Nils Vanneste, who was appointed today as the new sports manager.
“We are going to do everything we can to go over again. But we should not underestimate that. We cannot just say that we will go over, but we must do everything we can to make that happen.”
New coach and players
Nils Vanneste must first and foremost look for a new trainer. Vanderhaeghe, De Mil, Van Imschoot thanked, now the arrows are aimed at Stijn Vreven. Vanneste also has a lot of work to do on the player side. 14 are gone, and of the 29 on the first training we also don’t see a few anymore. Nils Vanneste: “It is an honor for me to get this opportunity and I will do my best to put together the strongest possible team within the available budget. There is a lot of work to be done in the coming months, starting with the appointment of a new coaching staff. Talks are ongoing and I hope they will reach a final stage very soon. In any case, I want to focus more on Belgian players in our policy, as far as possible, with an eye for local identity.”
KVO will practice against Oudenburg and Ichtegem this weekend. That will normally already be under the rule of the new head coach.
