“Still empty seats at Op1!”

Tina Nijkamp finds it incredible that Op1 still has empty chairs in the studio three years after the outbreak of the corona virus. “The viewer is so unwittingly reminded of it.”

The corona virus has long been contained, but at Op1 they act as if we are still in the middle of the pandemic. The studio is still full of empty seats in the audience and they are regularly prominently featured. Tina Nijkamp, the former SBS 6 channel boss who was a guest in the program on Monday, finds it astonishing.

Long playing record

Tina doesn’t understand it at all, she says to her ratings juice channel. “I know I’m a broken LP on the subject of ‘the empty chairs at Op1’, but I’m so surprised that they’re still there and appearing on screen.”

According to Tina, this is inexplicable for such an important program. “The program is on TV every day, it is a very important and present talk show. Why do they leave those chairs there?”

Leen Bakker or Karwei

They are very lazy at Op1, says Tina. “Very strange, the viewer is unwittingly reminded every day of the corona period and empty chairs also have something ghost town-like. I was in the studio and wondered again why no one goes to the Leen Bakker or Karwei for a few ornaments, side tables, plants, etc. instead of those chairs.”

According to her, it can only be unwillingness. “I don’t think it would be very difficult and expensive to do something about this.”

Few viewers

Yesterday’s Op1 was quite disappointing: ‘only’ 680 thousand people (26 percent market share) watched the broadcast on NPO 1. Even the afternoon show Tijd voor MAX had more, namely 708 thousand (37 percent).

The prime time winners were NPO 2’s De Slimste Mens (2.3 million and 40 percent), RTL 4’s Married At First Sight (1 million and 19 percent) and SBS 6’s Today Inside (891 thousand and 19 percent).
