Still don’t move! This is why the fire station remains in the Stadshart

Not only the police station, but also the fire station will remain in place in the Stadshart. Due to the high costs, it is not feasible to move the barracks from the Brusselstraat to the Abdissenbos.

Last year it was already announced that the police station will remain in its familiar location on Wegstapelplein. The more than forty-year-old building is being renovated and made more sustainable. It now appears that from the budget for the new fire station, the calculated costs are much too high, namely 3.5 million euros above the budget of 8.7 million euros. This means that this move will also not take place.

Grand plans

In August 2020, we announced that the first steps had been taken for the new fire station at Adbissenbos. Then mayor Jan Pieter Lokker and commander Esther Lieben of Haaglanden Fire Brigade signed a covenant together. We also saw the impression drawings of the brand new barracks:

The Haaglanden security region and the municipality of Zoetermeer have now decided to renovate and make the existing barracks in the Stadshart more sustainable.
