“Third situation known”
In addition to the previously reported incidents with suspicious deaths and murder attempts in residential care centers in Oostrozebeke and Hasselt the services of the Flemish Minister of Welfare Hilde Crevits know of another case in which a resident of a residential care center died after being injected with insulin.
“A third situation is known where a resident was admitted to hospital after an insulin injection, even though the resident was not a diabetic. That person later died,” Minister Crevits said in the Flemish Parliament.
The minister did not want to say which facility it concerns, but the facility has already been placed under increased supervision.
“Another serious situation”
The CD&V minister then referred to a “fourth situation”.
“Recently, additional information was requested by my agency following an inspection visit in which a ‘serious event’ was reported that was again not reported by the facility. That is also part of a judicial investigation,” said Minister Crevits.
