The concept comes from Denmark and in addition to a few stores in London, the chain has now opened its third restaurant in Berlin.
It’s an interesting place to sit on Torstrasse, it’s wonderful to watch life: the bright side, the bad and also the bizarre. So visual amusement is taken care of, but it doesn’t get boring when it comes to culinary delights either.
The concept: sushi and grilled skewers. There are sashimi, nigiri and maki in mostly more modern interpretations, such as the delicious ebi panko with tempura shrimp, hot sauce and avocado (8 pieces/15.20 euros). The sticks feature animal products ranging from Wagyu beef to scallops on a wooden skewer, creatively marinated with delicious sauces.
But of course there are other nice plates, such as Kani Korroke, fried shrimp croquettes with Wasabi Caesar (10.80 euros), Cauliflower with truffle sesame sauce (6.30 euros) or Beef Tataki, raw beef fillet, grilled on the outside with a miso Aioli and Jerusalem artichoke chips (14.80 euros).
It is best to order many small plates together and share and swap. There are menus that have already been put together for people who are indecisive, for example a summer menu for two for 98 euros.
You really have to drink wine on Torstrasse, but the homemade gherkin lemonade for 5 euros is also great – I like to say “not that sweet” when I order.
