Stichting Goed Gevoel in Beilen is looking ahead again: ‘We can stay here’

The Goed Gevoel Foundation in Beilen looks optimistically to the future. After a few turbulent months in 2023, the focus is back on what the foundation was founded for: helping people.

It was exciting last fall. Should Stichting Goed Gevoel remain in its current storefront in Beilen? The landlord wanted to get rid of the foundation, and the battle was fought all the way to court. But the parties eventually reached an agreement before the judge made a ruling. Now, a few months later, peace has returned to the foundation and they can once again focus on the future.

“We have agreed with the landlord that we can stay here for another two years, with an option for up to five years,” says Mabel Stuiver, founder of the Goed Gevoel Foundation. “Those two years are very important for us.”

Stichting Goed Gevoel uses the building on Brinkstraat in Beilen as a thrift store. The proceeds from the sale of items are used to put together food and maternity packages for people who do not have money for the products themselves. Presents are also purchased for the target group for birthdays and holidays.

“We started small,” says Stuiver. “But we are getting bigger and bigger. We do it for the people who do not qualify for the food bank.” The foundation helps an average of one hundred and fifty to two hundred people per month. “That’s really a lot.”

Stuiver explains why the back door of the store is so important in the video below. Text continues below the video.
