Taylor Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room on Friday at the age of 50 while on a Foo Fighters world tour. Numerous grandees of the music world from Liam Gallagher to Paul McCartney have subsequently paid homage to him.

Stevie Nicks also shared her memories with the late drummer, captioning a photo of the two musicians shared on Instagram: “I just have to say – thank goodness the Foo Fighters studio has a photo booth. Thanks to these pictures, my friendship with Taylor will always be close at hand. He always came to my shows. He and his best friend Dave even let me be a foo fighter for a while.”

Hawkins leaves a room full of sorrow

The singer played a live version of the Fleetwood Mac song “Gold Dust Woman” originally released in 1977 with the Foo Fighters – at the end of the song she called out “Best Gold Dust Woman ever” and meant it. She also wrote of her boyfriend Hawkins: “Taylor was very pretty and he was very sweet. Sometimes this combination is much better than ‘beautiful’. I think that’s all. He had a big heart and a beautiful smile. When he entered the room, everyone looked up. When he left the room, everyone was sad…”

“I feel the pain”

Nicks ends her post with the poem “I feel the pain” – read the translated verses here.

I’m sad now
I’m really sad
It’s like thunder rolling
Yes, I said that

It’s like a bad dream~
He comes like a wave~
give you a moment
And then you are drawn away.
our hearts are broken
We’ll never be the same again.
As I write these words~
i feel the pain
But I will always remember~
That laughter and glory
brought us together
To play the game
And we played it, over and over and over

And it was extraordinary
