In the fall of their career, two greats of US pop music come together for a joint concert: Ex-Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks (74) and “Piano Man” Billy Joel (73) have announced a rare joint concert.
The show doesn’t take place in showbiz metropolises like New York or Los Angeles, but in Arlington/Texas. Venue is the home stadium of the Dallas Cowboys football club. There the two enter the stage on April 8, 2023.
Joel last made (in October 2022) with the concert documentary “Billy Joel – Live at Yankee Stadium”, which shows the singer and composer at his legendary gig at the sold-out New York Stadium in the Bronx in 1990.
Here he performed celebrated songs like “Storm Front”, “Pressure” and of course “Piano Man”.
Is there a tour too?
Nicks, in turn, announced the duo concert via Instagram with a post “Two Icons in One Night”. Her caption might suggest that this once-in-a-lifetime show could go live: “Excited to be touring with the amazing Billy Joel in 2023,” she captioned eloquently, before adding, “More on that soon!”
Alongside this live date, Nicks has also announced a new song inspired by the Midterm Elections. In a statement about the US midterm elections taking place next week, she urges her fans to vote. Nicks shared an impassioned poem entitled “Get It Back,” which she plans to release as a song at a later date.
For his part, Joel recently welcomed Latin diva and actress Olivia Rodrigo, 19, to the stage at Madison Square Garden in NYC for an intergenerational performance of “Deja Vu” and “Uptown Girl.”
In Europe, Joel – like Bruce Springsteen and Pink – has announced his participation in the London festival “British Summer Time”, which traditionally takes place in the “Kirmes Zone” of Hyde Park over June and July.
