On July 14, Mumford And Sons frontman Marcus Mumford released his first solo single. Now, the music video for “Cannibal” wasn’t particularly exciting. In the clip, the Brit sits in front of a curtain and plays his guitar. But now he announced on Twitter: None other than Steven Spielberg was the director of the video
“On Sunday July 3rd Steven Spielberg shot his first music video in a gym in New York,” Mumford wrote under his post. The director did not need more expensive cameras. He sat on a swivel chair and recorded the music video on his phone. His wife, Kate Capshaw, was tasked with pushing her husband into position.

“In January 2021, while confronting the demons I’ve been dancing with in isolation for a long time, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,'” Mumford said in an online statement.
Twitter controversy
The last few years have been quite turbulent for Mumford & Sons. Banjo player and lead guitarist Winston Marshall had supported the controversial journalist Andy Ngo on Twitter and was sharply criticized for it. Marshall then left the band. The future of Mumford & Sons has been in the stars ever since.
Marcus Mumford’s solo album Self-Titled will be released on September 16th. The work will also feature indie favorite Phoebe Bridgers, singer-songwriter Clairo and Brandi Carlile, among others.
