Steven Gerrard was at the BT Sport interview point on Saturday. Aston Villa, who he managed, had a moment’s 0-1 home loss to Arsenal.
In a live broadcast, Gerrard described his team’s game extensively, with honest word choices. He noted, among other things, that “a few individuals lacked faith”.

Behind Gerrard’s smile was a sheer dose of sarcasm.
Kelly didn’t clot but reminded of the losses to Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal and mentioned the gap between Villa and the big ones over the deal.
– Des, you really noticed that, Gerrard tapped.
– The series is not lying.
Gerrard nodded that Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, West Ham and Wolves were ahead of the Villa.
– There’s a gap, he admitted.
– Yes, I like the way you find out quickly.
Kelly didn’t care about the thorns but suggested if Gerrard should whip his player into similar aggression.
– Listen, when I’m in an interview, I’m emotional and caring. I don’t like losses – and in fact, I feel like your questions could be a little better, Gerrard announced.
– Des, with all due respect and not at all in person, but you just said that there is a gap between us and the people of Manchester and blah, blah, blah. Yes, we know that. You also said we got one shot per goal at the end of the match, and that’s exactly how I described the match.
