Music producer and Shellac mastermind Steve Albini has received harsh criticism from Steely Dan fans. This was preceded by a tweet in which he claimed “always been the kind of punk who shits on Steely Dan”.
I will always be the kind of punk that shits on Steely Dan

Fans of the rock band then accused him, among other things, of how a “arrogant asshole“ to sound. “The Dan”, as fans call the band, would be appreciated by many and would have had a major musical impact.
“The Dan” reflects musical perfection from a time of musical masterpieces never to be heard again. Ask a music legend such as session freak Steve Lukather how he feels about Steely Dan.

Albini then poked fun at the nickname, countering, “go trim your beard“. The band, founded by Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker, wasted “so much human energy just to sound like a Saturday Night Live opening act“. The feud ended with him on a auction to charity, where a guitar signed by Dave Grohl is for sale to benefit a Chicago NGO.
Steely Dan was born in New York in 1972. Their 1977 jazz-rock album AJA was one of the first albums to go platinum in the US.
Steve Albini founded various punk and rock bands since the 80s, most recently Shellac, which released a compilation of songs from 1994 and 2004 in 2019. He also wrote for music magazines. He gained notoriety as a producer in the independent scene. He produced the pixies SURFER ROSA (1988) and Nirvana’s IN UTERO in 1993.
