In mid-March the best ski jumping at the RAW Air in Vikersund. Recently, however, there was an alarm because of a bad smell. T-online has asked.
The best ski jumpers are currently looking forward to their start at the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim. Then it continues as part of the World Cup with the RAW Air in Vikersund (Norway). They also want to go on the DSV eagles there-and in the best conditions. Finally, however, they seemed to be in danger.
The Norwegian public service broadcasting NRK reported on the weekend of a stench that had laid over the whole city. In addition to NRK, the Norwegian newspaper “Dramens tidende” also dealt with the unpleasant smell, which, according to the neighbors, resembled “decaying corpses” (you can read more about the smell here).
The stench spread from a field that is around a kilometer as the crow flies from the RAW-Air site. According to the NRK, around “800 tons of sewage sludge” were released on the field. This should be good for the soil and the food production planned there. The municipality of Modum, which is around five kilometers away from Vikersund, is said to have agreed to order the sewage sludge. Resident Thomas Hovde Martinsen said NRK: “I find it embarrassing. In three weeks a RAW-Air party will take place, and it cannot take place.”
But what is the situation a few days later? T-online asked the municipality of Modum. A spokesman explains: “I can assure you that everything is prepared for the RAW Air. The smell was only for a short period of time and is no longer a problem.”
The “Tyrifjord Hotell”, which is four kilometers away from the ski jump, also confirmed by a spokesman for T-online demand: “As far as we are concerned, we have not perceived a bad smell in our region and also in the skiing arena. We are very much looking forward to welcoming winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world in Vikersund and at RAW Air.”
