As a celebrity you don’t really count anymore without your own podcast. Daphne Deckers also has one, namely Daphne on Thursday, a hobby podcast in which she talks to ‘interesting and versatile personalities’. In that context, she also wanted to have Stella Bergsma, but she initially wanted money for it.

Not paid

Daphne makes her revelation in the episode with Ebru Umar, who says that she basically never does unpaid media appearances. “I have to say here that I didn’t pay you to sit here, because I don’t have a budget.”

Ebru then explains why she didn’t want any money from Daphne. “But I would also say exactly why I did come. Because I like it. First. Because I like you. I have always had very good contact with you. I have always had a good relationship with your husband. So why shouldn’t I come? It’s that simple.”

Stella wants money

Then Daphne reveals that Stella did want money. “I’m glad you’re here. And I’m glad you came. Stella Bergsma will also arrive next week, who I will also interview. And Stella was actually the first one to say to me, ‘What does it pay?’”

In the end, Stella got nothing. “I said, ‘Hey, it’s just costing me money. I just do this because I like it myself.’”

Ebru: “That may also be a reason. Because I know it costs you money. You did all this yourself. Cool, really good.”

Writing house

That’s right, Daphne agrees. “I did all this myself. In my writing house. But then Stella said, “If you don’t pay me, I’d like you to pick me up.” So I’m going to get her in Amsterdam. And then I thought: good for you.”

Ebru: “I’ll tell you something, that’s good for you. Because I was once in a panel with Stella in Groningen. And Stella managed to get on a bus to Germany and therefore never arrive in Groningen.”
