The President also said that the threat of war is brewing in Eastern Europe and that, in his opinion, Russia is responsible for this. He stressed that the deployment of troops near the border with Ukraine “cannot be misunderstood.” “This is a threat to Ukraine. But people there have the right to life without fear and threats, to self-determination and sovereignty. No country in the world has the right to destroy it – and we will resolutely respond to anyone who tries, ”added Steinmeier.

He also noted that due to the Ukrainian conflict, tensions are also growing in the countries of Eastern Europe, therefore Berlin supports Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
