National handball player Christoph Steinert will remain with the Bundesliga club HC Erlangen. The 33-year-old signed a contract valid until summer 2026; his original contract would have expired at the end of the season. Erlangen announced this on Monday.
“Steini is an important pillar in our team and can set decisive accents both defensively and offensively thanks to his quality and experience,” said Erlangen’s sports director Raul Alonso. Steinert has “developed into an integral part of the German national team and is considered a role model for younger handball players.”
Backcourt player Steinert finished fifth with the national team at the World Cup in January 2023. He is also in the extended squad for the home European Championships (January 10th to 28th).
