Stefon Diggs has made plenty of headlines this year. The Buffalo Bills NFL pro repeatedly made life difficult for his team in the offseason. A sports journalist therefore believes that the wide receiver is already planning his departure. An accusation that the person concerned did not leave uncommented.
After Diggs showed up at the Bills’ mini-camp in June, it seemed like players and franchises had buried the hatchet for good. “ESPN” expert Stephen A. Smith, on the other hand, has a contrary opinion.
“[Diggs] wants out,” the analyst said Monday on the show “First Take,” adding, “He doesn’t want to be in Buffalo anymore.”
The conflict between Buffalo and Diggs has been smoldering since the 10-27 playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last January. At that time, the receiver took on Bills quarterback Josh Allen because of the missed opportunity. Since then, Diggs has been said to have a strained relationship with his employer.
“Stefon Diggs needs to be there, but he’d rather be gone because he’s lost a certain level of confidence in the Buffalo Bills,” Smith concluded. “He knows he needs to be there and perform, but he doesn’t feel as comfortable with the Buffalo Bills as he used to because he feels like they missed a window.”
NFL: Stefon Diggs contradicts “ESPN” experts
Meanwhile, Diggs immediately responded to Smith’s claim on social media. “[Das ist zu] 100 percent not true,” the 29-year-old wrote on Twitter. He added: “I don’t know who the source is, but I thought I’d nip it in the bud.
Diggs also expressed his deep connection to the Bills in another post. The three-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year, $96 million contract with the AFC East team last year.
