THEn these last two years marked by the Coronavirus pandemic, Stefania Sandrelli had told of her financial difficulties and a great need to work. Also because Covid had put some of its work commitments on hold. Now, however, the 76-year-old Tuscan actress also wanted to confess another side of her last years: the crisis with comrade Giovanni Soldati, with which it has been linked since 1983.

In a long interview on Todaywho dedicated the cover to the actress, Stefania Sandrelli wanted to expose herself as perhaps she had never done before. On the eve of his arrival at the Venice Film Festival – where he will present the film Water and Anise by Corrado Ceron and where he will receive the prestigious Bianchi Award – the actress confessed that these, for her, are not such simple years.
With his lifelong partner, director Giovanni Soldati, he is not passing light moments. “He got sick, he needed help. I couldn’t not be there. I could not”.
It’s still: “When he got sick we had long been tired of each other. I was distracted by other people, he probably too. We felt obliged to live together. The last few years with him have been years of renunciation. To affection. To a caress ».

How, then, to solve this problem? This is how the icon of beauty and sensuality that made its film debut at the age of 15 continues: “Leaving us is something that perhaps would do better for Giovanni than for me. I would like him back with me, always, always… ».
He, according to Sandrelli, «is an honest man. He never pretends, never … Maybe he got tired of a too demanding woman, of being Sandrelli’s man. But I can’t help it, I can’t live it as a fault … And then next to Sandrelli is Stefania. It has always been there. “
“My professional life is about to end”
The interview is also an opportunity for Sandrelli to reflect on his position within the film industry. “I have done over a hundred films, television, theater, directed an opera. Spin Water and Anise I enjoyed it immensely, but my professional life is about to end“.
He continued: “What if I’m sorry? Hand, I have given so much, I have done so much … It only worries me that if I stop working my standard of living will change ».
In fact, already other times the actress had not had problems talking about some economic problems. Which also depended, in her opinion, on the treatment reserved for female actresses in Italy. “I’ve always been paid little, like all actresses. I have always denounced it that they give us half of what men take. And then I’ve never made a movie for money, not even The key (controversial 1983 Tinto Brass film, ed)so they only gave me 50 million ”.
