Steenkerke shares its history during ‘Historic Veurne’ folk festival

The theater performances have always been the signboard of ‘Historic Veurne’, and this year there is no deviation from that. The theatrical performances focused on the wartime past of the municipality and gave visitors an insight into various historical events, including a gigantic explosion of munitions. In another performance, the main focus was on the most famous inhabitant of the village, Willem Vermandere.

In the afternoon, various activities were organized, such as a retro bicycle race, tastings of local delicacies and performances by various musicians. The event is estimated to have attracted about a thousand visitors.
