Statement of the day | The West must deploy more weapons to contain Russian aggression

“Two years after the Russian invasion, one conclusion remains: we are not doing enough,” Evert van Dijk writes in the editorial. What do you think? Should we do more to contain Russian aggression?

“Since the Russian invasion, we have given the Ukrainians just enough weapons to defend themselves, but not enough to really repel the Russians,” Van Dijk writes. ‘And that has to happen. The longer the war lasts, the more Russia has an advantage.’

‘It is easy to be a pacifist in times of peace. We really can’t afford that now,” Van Dijk realizes. He therefore agrees with Armed Forces Commander Onno Eichelsman, who stated this week that more ammunition must be produced quickly. Defense expenditure must also increase significantly. Rather today than tomorrow.
