After the sad loss of Holland Casino, which chose new construction in Tynaarlo over Groningen, the city council wants to influence what and how is built in the business park. What do you think? Should Groningen be able to influence this, or not?
“This iconic place is so close to Groningen that you can also see it as a calling card for the city,” reasons Groningen councilor Rik van Niejenhuis in this piece .
Councilor Jurryt Vellinga (Liveable Tynaarlo) can well imagine the city’s interest in what is happening in Tynaarlo. “I would have that too if I were Van Niejenhuis.”
Still, he tempers expectations. Vellinga does not want to give the municipality of Groningen a say. “I’m going to listen constructively. That’s all it takes. We have an image quality plan for this area. It cannot be the case that Groningen helps determine what buildings in the municipality of Tynaarlo look like here.”
