Reception of refugees is not an easy file for many municipalities. Putin’s war in Ukraine has forced many people to flee their country. Some of them may come to the Netherlands.
A number of municipalities (The Hague, Haarlem, Arnhem) have already promised to arrange (emergency) shelter for people fleeing the war in Ukraine. Because the Netherlands has visa agreements with Ukraine, residents of the country can stay here for up to 90 days.
The problem is that all COA reception centers are full. A warm welcome therefore seems out of the question, unless municipalities roll up their sleeves to quickly realize new reception locations.
Should your municipality do its best to create a place for war refugees?
