From January, two general practitioners will leave from the collaborative Noorderdokters practices in Tweede Exloërmond and Valthermond. The demand for local general practitioners is also high in many other places outside the cities.
Yet there are also places where they make it easier for general practitioners to settle in a village. Such as in the Emmen region, where a regional GP training course is offered.
Normally, general practitioners are placed in training, so they often have to start all over again if they want to become a doctor in a village. Moving is no fun for highly educated people in their thirties, often with a working partner and small children. That’s why they usually hold off.
