Lentis, one of the largest mental health organizations in the North, is stopping basic mental health care to focus on specialist mental health care. Good thing, isn’t it?
Due to the decision, the treatment of mild and moderate psychological problems is no longer possible at Lentis. There are more providers of basic mental health care in Groningen, but now that Lentis is withdrawing, the pressure on the remaining providers will increase further. It will become even more difficult for patients with psychological problems to find help.
At the same time, the decision means that Lentis can better focus on specialist mental health care, for patients with more complicated problems, who suffer from multiple psychological problems and disorders at the same time.
What do you think? Is it a good thing that Lentis is stopping basic mental health care to focus on specialist mental health care? Or are too many people now left without psychological help?
