In his State of the Union address, US President Biden said that sooner or later Russia will pay the price for the war in Ukraine. But he also said the US will not intervene militarily in the conflict. Is that understandable?

In his first State of the Union address, US President Biden lashed out at Russian President Putin. He said Putin has never been so isolated from the rest of the world and that sooner or later Russia will pay the price for the war in Ukraine.

Biden did say that the US will not intervene militarily in the conflict in Ukraine and he acknowledged that Russia may make gains on the battlefield in the near future. “But in the long run, he will pay the price,” Biden said.

Is it understandable, also in light of the growing number of civilian casualties, that the US will not intervene militarily? Or is there just little understanding for that?
