Lars de Kloet and Egbert Swierts from the Assen company OmniDrones Security have brought a special security drone to the Northern Netherlands.
The idea is that the flying device, which weighs less than a kilo, will be used to secure festivals and business parks.
According to Libbe Kuiper of Jens Security in Emmen, the use of drones offers several advantages. For example, when checking a fence around an industrial estate: drones can see much faster whether a hole has been cut in something than invigilators driving around in a car. The chance of being caught is also much greater with a drone, Kuipers believes.
At festivals, surveillance drones can help with so-called crowd management: directing the flow of audiences. Swierts: “If you see the images of the streets, you can better judge which roads should be closed off and where the public should be led.”
