Groningen residents have completely lost their confidence in the government in The Hague, which forms the ideal breeding ground for large-scale crime, while the police are invisible in large parts of the Ommeland.
So say the researchers of the report Subversion in the Ommeland. The report reads like a brochure for criminals looking for a favorable business climate. Without detection, without officials and the door wide open for drugs across sea and land borders. Police are few. The standard is one community police officer for every 5,000 inhabitants.
