Statement of the day | Camper is a good alternative to a flying holiday

More and more young people are purchasing a camper or caravan. Is such a house on wheels a good substitute for a flying holiday?

Between January 1, 2020 and September 1, 2023, the total number of caravans and campers in the Netherlands increased by 7 percent, but among young campers up to and including 25 years of age, ownership increased by no less than 53 percent and in the 26 to 35 years category by 35.5 percent.

“Caravan and camper ownership is often associated with affluent retirees, but these figures clearly show that young adults and young families have also discovered or rediscovered camping. Since corona, a caravan or camper has become an increasingly attractive alternative to a flight and all-inclusive resort for them,” says KCI chairman Leo Diepemaat.
