The strikes at Albert Heijn distribution centers left empty shelves last week. Today there is another meeting with the unions. Should the supermarket chain give in immediately?
The reason for the strikes is that the trade unions and Albert Heijn cannot agree on a new collective labor agreement for employees of distribution centers. The unions want 14.3 percent more wages and Albert Heijn offered 6 percent.
Subsequently, a yes-no game arose in which AH indicated that it had increased the offer to 10 percent, while the unions indicated that they had not received a serious proposal.
A new meeting is scheduled for today. If they can’t figure it out, they’ll stop again. The result is even more empty shelves for the consumer. What do you think, should all union demands be met immediately? Comment below on the statement of the day.
