An official statement came from Trabzonspor Club about the championships before 1959.
The club’s statement is as follows:
Our President, Ertuğrul Doğan, made the following statements regarding the Turkish Football Federation’s decision to establish a special commission regarding the championships won before 1959:
The decision of the Turkish Football Federation to establish a commission to investigate the championships before 1959 is a decision that will bring together many discussions that were made only between Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir teams, based on a selected and regional league, and which are impossible to get out of.
If the local leagues, which do not represent the whole of Turkey and are played between only 3 provincial teams, will be taken as a basis; As Trabzonspor Club, it has become essential to remind us of our past, which we are proud of its achievements and culture, and the fact that we have 20 championships won in the local league.
In this context, we crowned the process in which one of our founding clubs, İdmanocağı had won 12 championships and İdmangücü had won 8 in the pre-1959 period, by adding 7 more championships, originally 8 championships, together with the name Trabzonspor, after the merger, according to the acceptance of the TFF.
Our club, which has destroyed the hegemony of Istanbul, whose history is full of historical achievements, is not limited to championships.
İdmanocağı, one of our founding clubs, won the Turkish Amateur Football Championship 3 times in 1957-1958, 1963-1964 and 1965-1966 in total.
We respectfully submit to the knowledge of our community and the public that our club will apply to the commission formed by the Turkish Football Federation for the immaculate championships and successes it has achieved together with our founding clubs, accompanied by evidence and examples.
If the championships before 1959 are taken into consideration by the commission created, it will become mandatory to register the championships of our founding clubs.
In accordance with the impartiality principle of the Turkish Football Federation; We declare that we will be a close follower of the entire process, while maintaining our belief that justice will not be practiced only in a club specific, and that it will make a fair and correct decision on the issue.
