The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) released a statement on its official website after the last football matches played.
The explanation is as follows:
“While the pains of the great disaster we experienced were fresh, while we were mourning the loss of our citizens, when we mobilized as a nation to heal our wounds, and as the Turkish Football Family, we stood shoulder to shoulder in unity and solidarity with all our clubs in this great mobilization, while the provocative actions and discourses that took place in some professional and amateur football competitions were brought before our country. and we condemn these malicious acts.Within the scope of these provocative actions and statements, our relevant boards will take the necessary criminal action.
Displaying provocative banners containing a criminal element in our stadiums, as in every public area, is a crime by law. Racist, divisive rhetoric and actions, violent attitudes and behaviors of marginalized groups in stadiums are never acceptable. At the same time, any action that directly affects the health of the athlete on and off the field cannot be tolerated. Those responsible and perpetrators of these racist, divisive acts and discourses are a matter taken into account by the judicial institutions of our state.
Certainly the stadiums; They are public spaces where fans of all political affiliations gather to support their favorite team. However, the political discourse and actions that take place in our stadiums, where thousands of people of different ideas and opinions meet, also bring about security problems in the stands, of which we will remember the sad examples in the past. For this critical reason, the place of political discourse is not stadiums but only meeting areas.
In these days when we need to understand, listen and help each other the most, we invite all members of our football family to continue their unity in a stronger way, just as we did on the occasion of our SHOULDER SHOULDER Solidarity and Aid Campaign.
We respectfully present it to the public’s information.”
