Statement from Galatasaray about the attack on Halil Umut Meler: That’s where the words end…

Galatasaray made a statement about Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca punching referee Halil Umut Meler after the Çaykur Rizespor match.

In the statement made by the yellow and red club, the title ‘Where the words end’ was used and a call was made to the Super League clubs.

Here is the statement made by Galatasaray;

“We are indescribably saddened by the events that took place right after the MKE Ankaragücü – Ç. Rizespor match. We wish a speedy recovery to the entire referee community, especially Halil Umut Meler, and we condemn those responsible for this incident in the strongest terms. Tonight, we celebrate what they did for all stakeholders of Turkish football.” It is time to review and think. No matter what has happened in the past, we must all come together today and act to solve the problems we are a part of.

For this purpose, we reiterate the call for moderation we have made in the past and request that the Clubs Association convene on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, with a single agenda item to resolve this issue.

We would like to remind the entire football community that; “No victory or championship won is more valuable than the slightest pain.”
