State Secretary Van Huffelen visits Sint Maarten, Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire | News item

Alexandra van Huffelen, State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization will visit Sint Maarten, Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire from 20 to 25 November. The State Secretary speaks with administrators and visits projects.

For example, she visits the National Recovery Program Bureau on Sint Maarten and obtains information about the landfill/dumping site. In Curaçao, the State Secretary will speak with representatives of the Climate Change Platform and Profound, a young Caribbean organization in the IT sector. A meeting with Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (Carmabi) is also on the program and she is holding talks about the development of innovative agriculture.

Representatives of the countries and islands of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom also meet in Curaçao to discuss the slavery past with the Secretary of State. They will talk about, among other things, how content can be given to the commemorative year of slavery in 2023.

The State Secretary will visit the Archivo Nacional Aruba (ANA) in Aruba. The trip will conclude on Bonaire, where the Secretary of State will visit victims of the recent flooding and receive an explanation of the situation of the dams.
