With this, the State Secretary is expanding the capacity, because until now only the Expo Assen was such a location. Asylum seekers are received there from 1 July to 1 October, who initially cannot go to the reception center in Ter Apel because of the crowds. Asylum seekers are intended to stay in such a front portal location for a maximum of three to five days. During their stay in these locations, they are identified and registered by the police and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND).
