EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell after the EU foreign ministers approved a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation clarified what exactly would become inaccessible to State Duma deputies who were on the “black list”.
“No more: shopping in Milan, parties in Saint-Tropez, diamonds in Antwerp,” the head of European diplomacy wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, Borrell said that 351 Russian deputies fell under the sanctions – they all voted for the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics. Restrictive measures will affect 27 individuals and legal entities and affect several banks. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin not on the sanctions list.
Borrell assured that the new package of sanctions would hit Russia hard. The European Union decided to restrict Russia’s access to the financial and capital markets of the EU. In addition, European businesses are now banned from any contacts with the LPR and DPR.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that Europe would follow Russia and continue attempts to resolve the situation. If this fails, additional sanctions may be introduced.
