Start of the women now in Semmering

The women’s Alpine World Cup season will start shortly before the turn of the year. As the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) announced on Friday, the race originally scheduled for last Saturday in Sölden will now take place in Semmering on December 27th. The first run is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., with the second run scheduled to start three hours later.

This means that three races in a row will take place on the “Magic Mountain” at the end of December: Another giant slalom is scheduled for December 28th, followed by a slalom the day after. The race in Sölden fell victim to the unfavorable weather conditions with rain and wind. Shortly thereafter, the two men’s descents planned for this week from Zermatt/Switzerland to Cervinia/Italy at the foot of the Matterhorn were also cancelled; these two races will not be rescheduled.
