Start of information sessions: already 50 objections regarding Ventilus
Ventilus is the future high-voltage line that will bring electricity from offshore wind farms to inland. The public investigation started on August 29. This will run until October 27. Anyone can submit questions, comments and suggestions. In the meantime, the Environment Department has already received around fifty letters of objection. “It is not all about objections, also about questions and suggestions, but they are part of it,” says spokesperson for the Department of the Environment Ann Heylens.

Information moments
Various information moments are planned during the public inquiry. The first one starts this evening in Zedelgem. About 100 residents are registered for this. In addition to the Flemish government, high-voltage grid operator Elia is also present. They especially want to explain the compensation for the affected residents and farmers.
There are also information markets in Bruges, Deerlijk and Izegem. Prior to the information sessions, individual conversations took place with residents closest to the route.

The Flemish government must make a decision
The Department will process and review all appeals. The design for the GRUP with the assessments will then be submitted again to the Flemish government. It is then up to the Flemish government to make a final decision or to make further adjustments. The government has 180 days to do this after the conclusion of the public inquiry.
