Start election ‘Tineke Van Heule’ in Heule
This pageant is not a beauty pageant as we know it. You will not become a Tineke if you have no connection with the village of Heule. The honorary title is a piece of cultural heritage that especially touches people from Heul.
The 10 candidates introduce themselves to the public in a procession on a self-made or converted carriage. Tineke Van Heule wore an apron, clogs and a scarf. But today the candidates can come up with their own variation.
“It’s not about being beautiful. It’s about perseverance, your appearance and throwing yourself hard for the whole weekend,” says candidate Maura Lafosse.
Tonight the winner of the election will be announced in OC De Vonke.
