With 211.85 points and 13th place, German runner-up Nikita Starostin once again missed out on a place in the top ten at the European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas, Lithuania.
In the past two years, the 21-year-old native of Russia and Dortmund by choice landed in 13th and 15th positions. A place among the top ten runners would have secured a second starting place for next year.
The Frenchman Adam Siao Him Fa successfully defended the European Championship title with a series of quadruple jumps and an unrecognized backflip with 276.17 points. Surprisingly, Estonian Aleksandr Selevko won the silver medal with 256.99 points ahead of Matteo Rizzo from Italy (250.87).
