Star Wars: John Boyega names The Last Jedi as the worst movie

Nevertheless, the actor has somehow grown fond of them all, he admits in an interview.

Actor John Boyega (“Attack The Block”) was once again asked about the “Star Wars” franchise. In the role of Finn, the Brit with Nigerian roots traveled to a galaxy far, far away in three films. “The Last Jedi”, the second part of the so-called “sequel trilogy”, was his personally worst contribution to the series, as he now reveals.

John Boyega and “Star Wars”: It’s complicated

During a promotional interview for his new film They Cloned Tyrone, Boyega was asked by online magazine First We Feast about the three current Star Wars sequels. When asked how he would rank The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker from best to worst, he named Jedi last. With a wry grin, he added, “But they’re all wonderful.”

The Last Jedi, directed and written by Rian Johnson (Knives Out), also divided the Star Wars fan camp. Many viewers were bothered by the unusual plot of the science fiction adventure, while others loved it for exactly that reason. Boyega apparently places himself in the first camp.

The 31-year-old has indicated on several occasions that he is less than happy with his time in the franchise. He publicly complained that his character Finn wasn’t given enough depth. He also indicated in several interviews that he no longer wanted to appear in the franchise.

John Boyega has been on Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone since July 14th. He also stars Jamie Foxx (“Django Unchained”) and Teyonah Parris (“Candyman”) in the sci-fi comedy.
