Star outfits of “iconic women” are being auctioned off

Fashion items worn by stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elizabeth Taylor, Cher and Princess Diana are going under the hammer in Hollywood. The auction of the designer outfits of “iconic women” will take place on January 11th in Los Angeles, the auction house Julien’s announced on Wednesday (local time).

Highlights include a black and white cocktail dress worn by Princess Diana. According to estimates, the dress designed by fashion designer Catherine Walker could fetch up to 200,000 US dollars (around 185,500 euros). A green Givenchy costume that Hollywood star Grace Kelly wore at a reception with US President John F. Kennedy in 1961 is estimated at up to 80,000 US dollars (around 74,201 euros).

A tulle mini dress by “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker is estimated at at least $8,000 (around 7,420 euros). An Yves Saint Laurent creation that Audrey Hepburn wore to her son Luca’s christening in 1970 could fetch up to $20,000. A pair of glittery pants designed by Dolce & Gabbana, in which Cher appeared at an Oscar party in 2000, is estimated at up to 5,000 US dollars (around 4,637 euros). According to the announcement, pieces by Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Joan Collins, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston and Lady Gaga will also be auctioned. (dpa)
