Stanley Menzo leaves Surinamese team after nine months

The national coach of the Surinamese football team Stanley Menzo will resign on 1 September. The former keeper of, among others, the Dutch national team and Ajax has accepted a “lucrative” offer from abroad. He announced this to the Surinamese press on Saturday afternoon via a video press conference, the local news site Starnieuws reports.

Menzo’s current assistant, Roberto Gödeken, will temporarily take over Menzo’s duties. This is in any case already certain for September when the Surinamese ‘Natio’ will also play a few international matches. Menzo did not want to say who his new employer will be. His new club will announce information about it itself.

Menzo took office as national coach at the beginning of January and then succeeded Dean Gorré, who left that summer last year.
